First aid - CPR

This entry goes with the previous one, on Circulation, Airway, and Breathing. Chest compressions only.

(Tip: how fast to do the compressions? To the beat of the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive", or "Another One Bites the Dust". Seriously.)

Watch the first aid video on CPR. (This one isn't as in depth as the others.)

Previous installments in the first aid seminar:
Part 1: introduction, vital areas
Part 2: bleeding
Part 3: fractures
Part 4: pulse, blood pressure
Part 5: CAB (circulation, airway, breathing)

First aid - CAB (circulation, airway, breathing)

You've tourniqueted the bleed or splinted the fracture, and checked the victim's pulse and blood pressure. You also need to make sure he's breathing, especially if he's unconscious.

Note: Several months after we held this seminar, the American Heart Association revised the order in which to do these steps from ABC to CAB. The rest of the information in the video still applies. (Note that the speaker references the upcoming change; the AHA just hadn't made it yet.)
